Introducing the Connect Programme: a six-week online course that is designed to help you develop your leadership skills by gaining a better understanding of the principles of coaching. As a Lead Clinician in parenteral nutrition, the Connect Programme aims to enable you to support members of your team and help them grow in confidence in their role, and in the delivery of care to their patients.
Delivered by an accredited trainer, this course is designed to help you understand how to motivate, direct, advise and support members of the team using a variety of different communication methods.
The course aims to equip you with the tools needed to coach members of your team so that they can more confidently and competently apply the clinical knowledge they have to communicate with colleagues and across multidisciplinary teams and/or Nutrition Support Teams. The ultimate aim is to help ensure patients benefit from the expertise learned.
Coaching is the process of enabling others to unlock their potential to improve their performance through helping them to learn by applying the knowledge they already have, as opposed to teaching them.
Ultimately, the aim of the Connect Programme is to support patient care by promoting interdepartmental working and communication, catalysed by a strong understanding of the principles of coaching. Throughout the course, you will develop your coaching skills, enabling you to help facilitate colleagues to use their knowledge more effectively and improve their communication across a multidisciplinary team: unlocking their potential with the ultimate aim of better outcomes for patients.
